I've been doing stickers, stamps, threading with the little gal for quite some time. And i thought, she may juz be ready to do some "messy stuff".
So, despite everyone's objection < the dad n mil>, i bought her a playdoh starter set. OO....the little gal loves it. Me too!! :) Ter said that i enjoy it more than her!! haha.

Anyway, i thought i wanted to start on some painting with her. Guess what i found. If u tink painting is boring, check tis out:

Anyway, for a starter, i guess i will juz start off with yoghurt painting with cucumbers. After all, if the little gal decides to eat her yoghurt paint off her cucumber brush, at least it won't be too diastrous.

Been reading up on websites for activities for toddlers, i tot kielli may be ready for more structured teaching.

Much stuff going thru my mind. There's juz too many teaching methodologies and i juz need time to reallie tink wat is most compatible with little elly's character, learning style etc. She has very short attention span, so activities have to be real short n FUN. Hopefully, i have time to conceptualise my thoughts and put them into action. challenging. I wanna do a mix of everything-arts, maths, fun etc!! I mean, isn';t learning supposed to be fun!

On another hand, i am constantly reminded ( by hubby) that spiritual training should be part of the curriculum. Indeed, as she learns about this world, may she learn about the attributes of our almighty God who creates the wonders of this world.

She will be who God wants her to be. And she shall be most beautiful in the eyes of God. My bautiful princess. God's wonderful daughter.

our favourite hobby!

Ter enjoys word games while i enjoy juz nonsensical play.

so our favourite hobby since i was preggie: creating nicknames for the little one.
We will juz come up wif the name n laugh....wahaha....

Here's some for ur entertainment!

During Pregnancy when nicknames were given accordingly to her foetus size.we didn't know if she's a he or she. so nicknames were purely generic!!

teeny grapeseed
apple
kiwi seed
strawberry
mini watermelon
orange
care bear!!! (ya, 4 a period of time, she was as big as my care bear!)
kiwifruit
papayaya
kicker (she kicks 30 times at every one time)
morning gal ( kicks n wakes mummy up at 5am)

After Birth
little rhino ( she wringles towards the side of her bed, like a reckless bull)
sweetie
cutie pie
chao4 ba1 bi1 ( her grandma calls her that. it means smelly baby coz she perspires even in air con room)
sweetie pie
baby
prettie
galgal
mummy's sweetheart
darling
daddy's gal
missy terence
little terence
mushroom head ( after her hair cut)
darling
ellygal
elly
ki-eli-gator ( ki-aligator) (This is her dad's favourite name! well, he is after all the CROC of BFC)
little croc

It dawned upon us that she may have some identity crisis coz she has so many nicknames. We wonder if she knows her name is KIELLI.
so these names, we tend to stick to juz a few names: kielli, darling, sweetie pie.... etc....

Apparently, we tink she don't know wats her chinese name. Coz no one calls her that, onli her babysitter!

Blog Revival!! :)

My NTU Roomate buzzed me on msn n grumbled that my blog is dead. Hilarious. This gal is super direct, to the face. SO i decided. Alright, i shall try to revive this blog.

Though it takes me 3 secs to reply to emails sent to my office account, it takes me forever to reply mails from my personal account and update my blog. well, i guess, at work, i HAVE to be extremely fast and be professionally PR. But at home, it's a diff story. Things tend to take a much much slower pace.

Anyway, for updates to frens, i've been working part time as HR for almost 1 month and i'm enjoying work and working my brains. Thank God for providing the part time job and it's truly a blessing to work half day and be able to spend the rest of the day with little Kielli and having lotsa bonding time with her.

The little gal is so bonded to me and she's a reallie sweetie chilli padi. Ter & I hugged each other last nite. Guess what, Elly saw us, walked towards us and hugged both of us. she makes both of our hearts melt.

One morning, ter woke up, looked at his daugher and said, " she's so cute!" Well, it makes my day to see daddy play with the little gal. She luves her daddy coz her daddy toss her all around when he's home. She'll hug me when i come back from work, cling unto me as though i'm her everything and make me read the same book to her at least 5 times each day.

Time with the little gal is extremely precious to me and i take great responsibility to parent her. To me, she is given by God to us, and we would want to develop her potential to her fullest, that she can be used for the glory of God, to be who God wants her to be.

It's amazing how the little gal picks up stuff and it kinda inspires me to work even harder to teach and mould her to be more christlike. In the meantime, i see myself in her, my rebellious, strong-willed character, "does not like to be told what to do" fighter attitude towards life. OOOO....for the first time in my life, i finally realised that i was a difficult kid when i was younger. very demanding. very rebellious. i recall my youth days when my dad did not allow me to take the rollar coaster in Australia. WHo carez, i took the rollar coaster with my frens anyway. He refused to let me play in the sea. I went for a swim in the sea with my frens, had glass cuts all over my leg, crippled home, applied medicine on myself and he never found out that i DId swim in the sea after all. i defended my P5 cousin when she was bullied. yes, i was only p3. And i made galz & guyz cry in Primary school when i refused to give them my sweets n pencils. I remembered there were instances when the kid's parents approached me to be nice to their kids. well well well, those were the days.

Come to think of it. I wonder if i ever have to deal with all these when Kielli grows up. And in my heart, i know i will, someday. this gal is a fighter. I reallie pray that her fighting spirit will be used for good purpose in the future for God.

We brought her to CAmpus Crusade Book sale yesterdae. She basically removed books from shelves and threw them all over the place. As i carried her, she screamed n yelled. And guess what, i gotta carry her out of the place and discipline her. Not once. Not twice. But 4 times. This gal totally exhausts me! :)

She is a tough nut to crack. And, God has been teaching me to be patient with her and see her thru the eyes of God. She is uniquely made by God and i strongly believe her strengths and weaknesses will be in sygnery when in balance. And, as a mother, i am seeking and helping her find that balance, praying that God can open my eyes to see, observe her and mould her most effectively to be who God wants her to be.

One month ago, I've been teaching her how to draw and stick stickers unto sticker books. Last week, she took up a pen n started drawing. She can stick stickers unto books now .:) I'm a proud mummy!

Most amazing. 2 weeks ago, i taught her to spot little ducks in Usborne books. ( There's little ducks hidden on every page of the books) SHe appeared uninterested in this activity for the first 4 days and i will shout " THERE" when i saw the litle duck to get her attention. i perservered on. On the 5th day, she opened the book herself, pointed to the duck and shouted "THERE!" I was shocked!! :)
Her daily favourite noon activity now is "duck spotting"!!

" Train up a child in the way he should go. And when he is old, he shall not depart from it." Indeed, as i see the fruits of labour, i thank God for the time i have with her. It's been a blessing n such joy to watch her grow.

Yappie. I've done A-Z and numbers for her for the last 6 mths. Recently, i've been starting her on chinese books, otherwise she'll end up like her daddy. After all, i was a higher chinese student who grew up in a chinese church, my dad and grandpa are chinese physicians, my great grandpa is a chinese painter. My dad has been complaining to me that KIELLI NEEDS TO learn chinese. OK. i know i know.

As much as she's a handful to discipline, i find joy teaching this gal. I juz bought this A-Z christian cards and i'm looking forward to spend the next 6 mths doing these materials with her and introducing her to some bible stuff. As much as other stuff is important, to me, spiritual developement should take first piority. As i go thru the A-Z cards yesterdae, the simple christian truths blessed me. And i pray, as i teach little Kielli about God, i too will grow and draw closer to God.

It;s been a breeze working part time. there's so much for me to learn as a young mummy. And as i teach kielli about the bible, i realise i need to equip myself too! Do pray for me! i'm an in-experienced mummy!
